Reception gone to pot? Let's find out why
A dropped-out picture is almost never the telly's fault — it is the signal getting to it. Perth Services diagnoses and fixes TV reception problems across the whole metro, from no signal at all to the odd channel breaking up of an evening. We are a family-run team, so you get a patient, honest look at what is actually wrong and the smallest fix that sorts it.
Not sure what is going on? Find your symptom below — these are the exact things Perth customers ring us about — or just call or text and describe it in your own words.
Common TV reception problems we fix
Here is what people describe when they call, what it usually means, and what we do about it.
No TV signal / TV says "No Signal"
A black screen or a “No Signal” message usually means nothing is reaching the TV at all — a dead or knocked antenna, a failed connection, or a break in the cable. We test back at the antenna to find where the signal stops, then sort it.
Picture pixelating or freezing
Blocky squares, freezing, or the sound cutting out point to a weak or patchy signal — typically an ageing antenna, a loose join, or an aerial that has drifted off-aim. A realignment or a small repair almost always clears it up.
Channels dropping out or missing after a retune
If channels vanish after a retune or come and go through the day, the signal is sitting right on the edge. We measure the actual signal strength and quality and lift it back into a stable range so the channels stay put.
Channel 7 (or one channel) not working
When just one network drops — Seven, Nine, Ten or SBS — it is usually that channel sitting on a different frequency your setup struggles with, not a fault with the telly. We tune for the full Perth channel range so every network comes through.
Antenna not picking up channels
A new TV, a new home, or an old aerial that has finally given up can all leave you with no channels found. We check whether the antenna is alive, aimed right, and suited to your suburb, then repair, realign, or replace as needed.
Poor reception in one room only
If every other TV is fine and only one room plays up, the antenna is not the problem — it is the cabling, the wall point, or a dodgy splitter feeding that room. We test each point and fix the one that is letting you down.
What we do about it
Diagnose it properly
We test the signal at the antenna and at each TV point with a proper meter — no guessing. You get a straight answer on what is actually causing the problem.
Fix or replace — your call
Most reception faults are a repair: a realignment, a connection, or a length of cable. If the antenna is well past it, we will say so and quote a replacement — no pressure, no shonky upsell.
Sorted, often same day
We carry common antenna and cabling parts on the van, so when we are nearby we can usually diagnose and fix your reception in the one visit.
Turns out you need a whole new aerial? See our TV antenna installation page. Just after a repair? Head to TV antenna repair.

TV reception FAQs
Can you fix my TV reception the same day?
Often, yes. We carry common antenna and cabling parts on the van, so when we are already working nearby we can usually diagnose and fix reception problems in the one visit. Give us a call or a text and we will let you know the soonest we can get to you.
Why does my TV say No Signal?
A “No Signal” message means nothing is reaching the tuner. The usual causes are a dead or knocked antenna, a corroded connection, or a broken cable. We trace the signal back to the source to find exactly where it stops rather than replacing parts on a guess.
Why is only one channel, like Channel 7, not working?
When a single network drops out, that channel is usually broadcasting on a frequency your current setup struggles with, while the stronger channels still come through. It points to a weak overall signal or an ageing antenna. A retune, realignment, or minor repair normally brings the missing channel back.
Do I need a new antenna or just a repair?
More often than not it is a repair — a realignment, a connection, or a section of cable. If your antenna is 10 to 15 years old, heavily corroded, or storm-damaged beyond a fix, a replacement can be better value. We diagnose on site and give you the honest call before any work starts.
How much does it cost to fix TV reception in Perth?
Reception service calls start from $149, which covers the diagnosis and most minor fixes on the spot. If a new antenna or extra cabling is needed we will quote that before we start, so there are never any surprises.
