Do I still need a phone line for NBN?
Depends on your NBN type. FTTC and FTTN use your phone line. FTTP and HFC don’t. Either way, you need proper cabling between your NBN connection point and modem location.
Why is my phone line crackling?
Usually water in the cable, corroded connections, or old wiring. We test the line end-to-end and fix the faulty section. A noisy phone line can also slow your internet on FTTN NBN.
Can you convert a phone point to a data point?
Sometimes. If the existing cable is Cat5 or better, we can reterminate it. If it’s old 2-pair telephone cable, we’ll need new Cat6. We’ll check and advise on the spot.
